DGW33 doublers

The Constraint: BB2 with Zero Doublers

All chips are spent except Bench Boost 2. No WC2, no FH, no TC2 remaining. DGW33 (ARS, MCI, AVL, CRY) is confirmed, but the current squad has zero DGW33 doublers — every player is at FUL, CHE, MUN, NEW, LEE, LIV, or BOU. The BB2 strategy is constrained by a 2-FT maximum: only two DGW33 players can be brought in before GW33 without taking hits. The sequence prioritises acquiring the two highest-value doublers within budget, then activating BB2 in GW33 for maximum return from the squad we have.

BB2 Data Integrity Note

The GW31 API report shows "available": [] (no chips). This is the known FPL Wildcard counting bug — the API conflates TC1/TC2 and FH1/FH2. Cross-checking against chip history (BB1 used GW2, TC1 GW10, FH1 GW11, WC1 GW12, WC2 GW23, TC2 GW26, FH2 GW31 = 7 chips used) confirms BB2 is still available. Verified per CLAUDE.md chip history.

Trade Sequence — GW32 (2 FTs)

Trade #1 — Free Transfer
GW32
OUT: Thiaw (NEW DEF £5.1m F:3.4)
IN: O'Reilly (MCI DEF £5.0m F:6.2)
Sell: £5.1m  |  Buy: £5.0m  |  Delta: +£0.1m to bank  |  Bank after: £0.3m  |  Cost: Free transfer  |  DGW33: None → MCI double ✓
Thiaw (NEW, F:3.4, 114 TP) is MONITOR-rated with deteriorating form and a difficult fixture run (ARS away in GW34). O'Reilly (MCI, F:6.2, 125 TP) doubles in GW33, giving two Man City appearances during BB2. The move is effectively free (saves £0.1m) and adds a genuine doubler to the XI. O'Reilly is also a strong hold post-BB2 — MCI form and fixture run remains favourable into GW35.

Why O'Reilly over an MCI midfielder? O'Reilly at £5.0m fits the budget precisely. MCI midfielders (Semenyo £8.2m, De Bruyne £13m+) are too expensive to bring in via a standard FT swap from a £5.1m defender.
Trade #2 — Free Transfer
GW32
OUT: Andersen (FUL DEF £4.6m F:3.0)
IN: Richards (CRY DEF £4.4m F:5.2)
Sell: £4.6m  |  Buy: £4.4m  |  Delta: +£0.2m to bank  |  Bank after: £0.5m  |  Cost: Free transfer  |  DGW33: None → CRY double ✓
Andersen (FUL, F:3.0, 104 TP) is the lowest-form defender in the squad. Tough fixtures ahead (LIV away, BRE away, ARS away). Richards (CRY, F:5.2, 114 TP) doubles in GW33 — two Crystal Palace fixtures during BB2. At £4.4m, Richards is also cheaper than Andersen, banking £0.2m and growing the war chest to £0.5m for post-BB2 trades.

Alternative: Mitchell (CRY DEF, ~£5.0m, F:5.0) — slightly higher form but costs more than Andersen, making the switch budget-negative. Richards is the correct choice within the £4.6m sell constraint.

⚡ BENCH BOOST 2
All 15 players score
Cost: Free (chip)  |  DGW33 doublers in squad: 2 of 15 (O'Reilly + Richards)  |  Cap: B.Fernandes (F:9.2)
Squad for BB2 (after Trades 1–2):
XI doublers: O'Reilly (MCI ×2), Richards (CRY ×2)
XI singles: Kelleher, Rodon, Palmer, Wilson, Gordon, B.Fernandes, Szoboszlai, Šeško, João Pedro
Bench (all singles): Darlow (LEE), Senesi (BOU), Raúl (FUL), Truffert (BOU)

Expected BB2 return: ~25–40 extra pts from the bench (Senesi F:6.2 and Truffert F:6.6 are the bench highlights — both strong form players who will score meaningfully in their single fixtures).

Captain selection: B.Fernandes (MUN, F:9.2) is the standout captain — highest form in the squad and a strong GW33 fixture (BRE at home, FDR3). He has a single fixture but form 9.2 makes him the best expected-points pick. João Pedro (CHE F:6.4, MUN away FDR3) is VC.

Is BB2 worth it with only 2 doublers? Yes. The bench contributes approximately 25–40 additional pts that would otherwise be wasted. Even with just 2 doublers in the XI, O'Reilly and Richards add extra DGW33 returns. The alternative (not using BB2 in GW33) means sitting on the chip for a future GW where — without a WC2 or FH — this squad will still have few doublers. GW33 is the best window available.

GW33 Captain Analysis

② João Pedro (CHE) — VC
Form: 6.4 · 164 TP · 50.6% TSB
GW33: MUN(A) FDR3 · Single
High ownership — good safety captain. Consistent returner.
③ O'Reilly (MCI) — DGW differential
Form: 6.2 · 125 TP · 8.8% TSB
GW33: ×2 MCI fixtures · DGW33 ✓
Low ownership doubler. High ceiling if MCI haul — rank gain potential if it lands.
④ Wilson (FUL) — form pick
Form: 6.4 · 152 TP · 24.9% TSB
GW33: AVL(H) FDR3 · Single
Consistent returns. Single fixture — lower ceiling than O'Reilly.

Post-BB2 — GW34+ Cleanup

Trade #3 — Form Downgrade Out
GW35
OUT: Palmer (CHE MID £10.6m F:3.4)
IN: Best MID form pick (GW35+ fixtures)
Budget: ~£11.1m (Palmer sell + bank)  |  FTs available: 2 (rolled GW34)  |  Priority: Medium
Roll the FT in GW34 to accumulate 2 FTs. Palmer (CHE, F:3.4, 96 TP) is significantly underperforming his price — CHE face MCI and MUN in GW32–33, with tough fixtures continuing. At £10.6m he commands a premium that form 3.4 doesn’t justify. Selling him frees £10.5–11m+ to bring in a top MID with strong GW35–38 fixtures. Targets will depend on form at the time — prioritise FDR 1–2 fixtures in GW35–37.
Trade #4 — Bench GK Upgrade
GW35+
OUT: Darlow (LEE GK £3.9m F:3.8)
IN: Best GK for run-in (FDR 1–2)
Budget: ~£4.4m (Darlow sell + bank)  |  Priority: Low
Darlow (LEE, F:3.8, 42 TP) is a weak bench GK. Once the Palmer trade is executed and the budget is cleaner, a run-in GK with FDR 1–2 fixtures provides better auto-sub insurance. Low priority — only needed if a good GK with exceptional run-in fixtures is available within budget.

Alternative: Delay BB2 Past GW33?

With only 2 doublers in a 15-man squad, it’s fair to question whether BB2 is better saved. The argument against delaying: this squad has no WC2 or FH remaining, so future GWs will also have few doublers without multiple additional hits. At least GW33 guarantees O'Reilly and Richards play twice, and the bench (Senesi F:6.2, Truffert F:6.6) contributes meaningful single-fixture points. A bench of 25–40 bonus pts in GW33 is better than the same bench going unscored every other GW. Deploy BB2 in GW33.
